Will Employment Levels Continue To Drop?

British Glass Director, and CPIV President, David Workman answers a series of questions on current trends in the European glassmaking sector. At its most recent meeting with the EU Commission in Brussels, CPIV yet again reported a significant fall in the numbers employed in the glass industry within the EU. A recent report on UK manufacturing showed a reduction of a million jobs over the last six years, a trend which, if allowed to continue, would see the total demise of all glass manufacturing in the UK within a generation. It is suspected that a similar position exists in many Western EU states. In this feature, Mr Workman answers some difficult questions.
