Using Langmuir-Blodgett Techniques To Deposit Cobalt Phthalocyanine Films Onto Glass Or Quartz Slides And Subsequent Axial Coordination Of Basic Ligands

Introduction of ligands or spacers on phthalocyanine (Pc) structure was planned and confirmed by different physical techniques. Mononuclear structures, dimers & oligomers of 2,9,16,23-tetra(neopentoxy)phthalocyanine of cobalt (CoTnPc) (D4h) (high spin) and CoTnPc/L (C4v) (low spin) (L=axial ligand; i.e. cyanide, pyridine, 4-cyano-pyridine, pyrazine and 4,4'-bipyridyl) were preapred as solid compounds or as film structures and characterised by using elemental analysis, 1H NMR, IR and electronic spectra.
