The Use Of Microwave Energy For The Firing Of Heavy Clay Products

Thermal analyses and dielectric property measurements of numerous heavy clay bodies provided data for the selection of optimum body compositions. The addition of carbon increased the complex permittivity of the bodies tested, in such a way that it improved the efficiency of microwave coupling in the firing process. The Microwave Autogenous Firing (MWAF) mechanism was identified. The key variables that influenced this microwave heating process were examined.
