Taguchi? A Brief Overview

Firstly who or what is Taguchi? Dr Taguchi spent time in the 1940s investigating the quality of products with the aim of improving quality by optimising processes. He believed the best way to improve quality was to design it into the product. Quality is often best achieved by minimising the deviation from a target and this is one of the approaches which Taguchi methods take. Taguchi methods also study noise factors and how to minimize the effect which they have on the product. Put simply, Taguchi methods perform a series of experiments varying several factors to find an optimal process for manufacturing the final product.
