Sintering Of Silica Compacts From Powders Obtained By Atomization Of Organometallic Solutions.

A report concerning the formation of SiO2(OH)x particles through the controlled hydrolytic decomposition of siloxane precursors is given. The preparation of relatively flat objects by wet pressing is discussed together with specific sintering steps used to make clear silica monoliths.
