The control system is the nerve centre of a modern batch plant. The extensive developments in microelectronics made in the last few years have opened up new possibilities in this field. Each control system reflects the architecture and operation of the individual plant. This article describes the concept for an up-to-date batch plant control system on the basis of stored programme controllers (SPC).
