Preparation of the Mg0.5Ti2(PO4)3 NASICON-type material by controlled crystallisation of magnesium titanium borophosphate glasses of the composition 30MgO.20B2O3xTiO2(50-x)P2O5 (x=0-25mol% TiO2) followed by subsequent acid leaching of crystalline products was studied. All prepared glasses crystallise under heating within the temperature range of 650-870C and the surface nucleation is the prevailing process. The lowest tendency towards crystallisation has the glass with 5 mol% TiO2. X-ray diffraction measurements showed that major compounds formed by glass crystallisation were Mg(PO3)2, Mg2P2O7, TiP2O7, BPO4 and Mg0.5Ti2(PO4)3. Crystalline samples, prepared by heat treatment of the glasses at 900C, were leached with 2 m HCI aqueous solution at room temperature.
