Periodic Motion Of Bubbles In Molten Glass

A bubble in a downward stream of molten glass can periodically grow and move up and down if the glass above it contains a fining agent in a concentration above the solubility limit upstream and below the solubility limit downstream. Examples of this behaviour are discussed.
