Oxy-Gas Fired Forehearths

Using a model based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) three operating conditions of the same forehearth were studied, air-gas firing, oxygen-gas firing and oxygen-gas firing at a higher pull. In inital tests the specification of the materials for the burners as well as their position in an oxy-gas fired forehearth are given. Full scale forehearth trials are currently taking place on a small, borosilicate forehearth for lighting pressware.
