Optical Properties Of Manganese And Silver Doped Soda-Lime-Silica Glass

The optical properties of manganese and silver in soda-lime-silicate glass after x-ray irradiation followed by annealing were investigated using absorption spectroscopy and electron spin resonance (ESR) techniques. The formation of Mn3+ and silver nanoclusters at different annealing temperatures were observed in the irradiated region. The existence of Mn3+ leads to a purple colour while the formation of silver nanoclusters makes the glass a yellow colour.
