From the viewpoint of total cost reduction, the structure of automobile seat cushions has been changing from flexible polyurethane foam on a spring support to that without spring support (deep foam concept). Furthermore, reduction of foam density and thickness are demanded. Considering such trends, this paper reports on a newly developed novel polyether polyol (New Generation PREMINOL) which gives fully satisfied foam with comfort riding properties required to automobile seat cushion and excellent durability. SEM observation of rib of the resulted foam cell shows that well developed phase separation of the foam based on New generation PREMINOL is estimated to give good properties.
