In the glass industry, modelling is increasingly employed as a research and development predictive tool to maximise processing efficiency. Notably, the glass forming processes, numerical models aid not only in product design and quality, but also in the improvement of production performance. This study addresses press and blow processing by means of a numerical model based on the Finite Element Method. Both thermal and mechanical phenomena are calculated with respect to the forming proces conditions. An example of application is illustrated and discussed. Results are shown to correspond closely with experimental data.
