The Modelling Of A Glass-To-Metal Forming Process

The aim of this study is the modelling of the assembling process of an electron gun. The assembling of such guns consists in introducing metal claws into heated glass beads. The heating, indentation and cooling stage have been modelled with the software code Forge2. Inverse analyses with experimental data have allowed to choose the unknown model parameters, both for the mechanical and thermal problem. A photoelastic experiment on an indentation sample with transparent glass offered a validation of the computed residual stresses. The validated model allows to predict the anchoring and the residual stress level in existing or virtual electron guns.
