Magnesia Alunmina Spinels For The Refractory Industry

Magnesia alumina spinel is not new and its use in the production of refractories has been studied for many years. Consumption only took off in 1976 as a lining brick in Portland Cement rotary kilns. With the advent of the spinel castables, higher volumes are being used. This article consideres some characteristics of thes fascinating material, looking in depth at the properties of the fused grains.
