Low Loss Optical Fibres For Transmitting Ultraviolet Laser

In this paper, all-silica optical fibres of OH-doped silica and boron and fluorine co-doped silica cladding are prepared by MCVD and rod-in-tube processes. When high power UV laser transmits through optical fibres, it is well known that the most important loss factors are Rayleigh Scattering and impurity absorption. Here, effects of hydroxyl and cladding and bending radius on ultraviolet transmission are studied. Properties of different UV-optical fibres are compared.
