Keeping A Watchful Eye On Flue Gases

Increasing concern for the environment has resulted in most industries making serious efforts to ensure that the levels of gaseous pollutants released to the atmosphere from large process plant do not exceed the limits imposed by environmental legislation. Operators are required continously to monitor concentrations of major pollutants, such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, nitric oxide, carbon dioxide and smoke particles in the waste gases emitted from their flue gases and chimneys. They must also satisfy inspectors from the appropriate regulating authority that the monitoring equipment used is working accurately and reliably.
