Interactions Of Organic Coatings With Metal Oxide Coatings And Glass Surfaces

An extensive review of the published literature was conducted to obtain information concerning the chemical characterisation of oxide surfaces, to determine the bonding forces associated with these surfaces, and to determine the nature and strength of interactions between various oxide surfaces and adsorbate molecules. The information obtained was used to postulate the role of metal oxide coatings when used in conjunction with organic coatings as synergistic, lubricious, damage preventative treatments on glass surfaces.
