Industrial Mineral Production In Europe - European Rock And Role

Europe is a major global producer of industrial minerals, with around 117M/t extracted in the EU in 2007. The industry makes an estimated direct contribution of Euros 13,000M to the EU GDP, although the value added by downstream industrial commodities is much larger. This article takes a look at the EU's position in global mineral supply, commodity trends, various EU industries and policies, also looking at future challenges.
