Identification Of Lead Crystal Glass Defects Related To Refractories: Advantages Of The Sem Microanalysis (In French)

The methodology for expertising glass defects by SEM microanalysis is described. The origin of some stones arising from refractory materials corrosion in lead crystal glass melted in pot or in electric tank furnaces is explained. The corrosion of AZS fused cast refractories in different locations of the furnace is illustrated by examination of glass-refractory interfaces. The formation of kailophilite in the melting area, of wadeite in confined glass enriched in zirconia and of a K20.Sn02.3Si02 as a product of tin oxide electrode corrosion in electric tank furnaces are reported.
