Homogeneous Gray-Coloured Coating Using Sol-Gel Technology

Clear, transparent and coloured coatings formed on glass using sol-gel technology were investigated. The optical thin film was comprised of double layers with a total thickness of 200nm. Both inner and outer layers were composed of Cu-Mn-Co-CrO multi-component spinel type oxide and Si02 matrix with varying ratios of Cu-Mn-Co-Cr-O and Si02. The film was formed by applying the solution containing transition metal ions coordinated with ethyleneglycol and hydrolysed Si alkoxide followed by heat treatment in the range of 650-750 deg C.
