Capillary phenomena have widespread impact on the glass industry. Wile there have been advances in this area over the past 10 years, opportunities for improved understanding and control exist. The author describes briefly some useful physicochemical relationships that involve surface energies and contact angles. Detailed discussion may be found in the literature.
