High Refractive-Index Glasses For Cinematography

Specifications for optical materials are tightening because of demands for higher performance in optical systems. In this paper the vitrification and the properties of the glasses in new born-lanthanum systems: B2O3-La2O3-SrF2 (system 1) and B2O2-La2O3-YF3 (system 2), in which the optimum compositions for glasses have been identified, that can be used routinely in cinematography, have been examined.
