Glass substrates plays a crucial role in the successful performance of advanced flat display panels (FDP). These FDP technologies include; Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Displays (AMLCD), Plasma Displays (PDP), Plasma Addressed Liquid Crystal Displays (PALC) and other emerging ones such as Field Emissive Displays (FED) and Electro Luminescent (EL). While AMLCD technology is moving toward larger sizes, PDP are currently large size displays requiring large size substrates. The primary issue in using larger substrates is minimizing distortion of the glass during the high temperture process. Corning's Code 1737 is the new generation of glass substrates for AMLCD and has become an industry standard. Corning/Saint-Gobain Code CS25 is a new glass that has significant benefits over soda-lime for PDP applications.
