Glass Processing - Times Are A'Changing

The 1 Sept deadline for new regulations governing toughened glass have now passed and come into force. By now, all manufacturers should be operating a system of "factory production control", have had their glass tested to the new additional tests covered by EN 12150, and had glass tested to the EN 12600 pendulum impact test. Kitemark licensees previously operating to BS 6206 may be deemed to comply as they should have been undergoing a transition to EN 1600. Nevertheless, they still need to have their glass tested to all the requirements of EN 12150. In the past, many manufacturers have claimed compliance with BS 6206 without necessarily having had their glass tested by an external body, this now no longer is an option & it is mandatory that all manufacturers have to undergo the appropriate testing & operate a factory production control system.
