In this paper, changes and improvements to glas coating systems manufactured over 20 years ago are described. One technological innovation is the C-MAG cathode, which isued to sputter low index materials such as Si02 to develop new optical coatings. C-MAG is offered as an extension to the established planar magnetron because it offers the highest powers and deposition rates.
