Glass-Ceramics Based On Calcium Phosphates - Artificial Dental Crown And Microporous Glass-Ceramics

Crystallization of calcium phosphate glasses and the derived glass-ceramics which have been investigated by us are briefly reviewed. The glass-ceramics containing an amount of Al2O3 are developed for artificial dental crowns which were prepared by a lost-wax technique. The glass-ceramics containing TiO2 (pseudo-binary system of RTi2(PO4)3-Ca3(PO4)2 ; R=Li, Na, 1/2Ca) were produced by bulk-crystallization of the glasses; the acid leaching of these glass-ceramics results in development of microporous glass-ceramics with a skeleton of NASICON-type titanium phosphate crystals.
