German Glass And Mineral Fibre Industry Hits Improved Turnover Target

With producer prices down slightly and payrolls steady, the German glass and mineral fibre industry increased its turnover by 4.4% during 1999, to DM16.6bn, the highest growth rate since 1994. Despite weak development in the construction sector, particularly new housing, and in private domestic consumption, upon both of which this sector depends, either directly or indirectly, for over 60% of its output, the industry still managed to raise domestic turnover by 3.4% to DM11.3bn.
