Gas Technology In Glass Manufacturing - Ngc'S Venture Bears Fruit

During 1990, Nordic Gas Technology Centre (NGC) investigated the use of energy in the Nordic glass industry. The total energy consumption was found to be 2.5 TWh/year, of which the main part was in the area of the existing or planned natural gas grid. NGC then decided to start a research program on gas utilisation in the glass industry. The program was divided into three parts according to the types of products manufactured and types of furnaces used: art glass; container and sheet glass; and fibre glass and mineral wool.
