Forehearth Temperature Gradient Measurements With Thermocouples

The use of thermocouples in gradient forehearth temperature measurement is reviewed. Recent metallurgical findings which identify the cause of early thermocouple failure due to amber glass attack are reported and methods of prevention suggested.
