The production of ultra and super-thin sheet glass by the down-draw process has reached high technological levels in the last 15 years. This has been possible because of the evolution of furnaces from an original daily output of 0.7 tons in 1983 to a capacity of 30 tons/day for multiple production lines today. The contribution of Germany's Eglass to this particular field has been in the construction of turnkey production lines using platinum technology.
