Error Free Wdm Transmission Of 8X10 Gbit/S Over 450 Km Of Leaf Optical Fiber

The performance of a novel non-zero dispersion-shifted large effective area fiber in a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system is described. Error-free transmission for 8x10Gbit/s in the red band and 4x10Gbit/s in the blue band over 450km (5x90km) is achieved. No four-wave mixing components were observed due to the large effective area of LEAF fiber.
