Electrochemical Study Of As3+/As5+ Equilibrium In A Barium Borosilicate Glass Melt

The arsenic redox equilibrium in a barium borosilicate glass melt has been studied quantitatively. The oxygen activity in the glass with different arsenic levels and temperatures has been measured electrochemically using an oxygen sensor with a yttria-stabilized zirconia solid electrode. The results are compared with reported values for other glass compositions, and possible applications in fining are discussed.
