Effects Of Batch Compositions On The Redox States Of Antimony In Tv-Glass Melts

To elucidate the effects of batch compositions on the redox states of antimony in TV-glass melts, the partial pressure of oxygen in the glass melts is measured by oxygen sensor which constitution is Pt//glass melt//Pt/Air/Zr02. As the temperature increases, the increasing p02 in the glass melt is observed due to the release of oxygen accompanied by the reduction of Sb5+ to Sb3+. The addition of sodium nitrate in the batch or increase in batch/cullet ratio helps to keep the glass melts more oxidizing state due to increasing pentavalent antimony concentration, which results in increasing p02 in the glass melts.
