Effect Of Particle Size And Percentage Of Sawdust On The Properties Of Lightweight Insulating Bricks

Lightweight insulating bricks were produced by incorporating sawdust into clay followed by firing at 1250 deg C. Four different sizes of sawdust were used. It was observed that the bulk density, thermal conductivity and cold crushing strength of the products changed significantly with the sawdust content. A very clear effect of the size of sawdust was observed on the cold crushing strength. The finer the size of sawdust, the higher was the cold crushing strength.
