Dissolution Products Of A Phosphate Glass Scale Inhibitor And Its Scale Inhibition Mechanism

A controlled release phosphate glass scale inhibitor was developed. The concentrations of dissolution products of the glass in deionised water were in linear relationship with the dissolution time. The experimental results also showed that weight loss of the scale inhibitor is also proportional to the dissolution time. The dissolution of the glass in water is controlled by hydrolysis and hydration reaction, but the hydration reaction predominates the dissolution process. The mechanism of the scale inhibition of the glass is also discussed.
