Cation diffusion process in ion exchanged sodium aluminosilicate glass rods have been studied. Differential equations governing the diffusion process were solved by following a novel method. Experimental concentration data obtained from a number of Ag+-Na+ ion exchange studies with different salt bath compositions and durations agree well with the theoretical prediction except in one where the duration of exchange is compatable to the response time for concentration build up at the surface of the glass rods.
