Developing The Next Generation Of Glass Enamels

For many decades glass enamles based on lead and cadmium-containing frits and stains have been widely used for the decoration of glass. Following increased concern over the risks associated with heavy metal-containing enamels used to decorate glassware, one German company has introduced a range of lead, cadmium and lithium-free enamels. This article provides an insight into how the range was developed.
