Designing Of High Temperature Oil Fired Low Thermal Mass Semi-Automatic Chamber Kiln

A high temperature oil fired semi-automatic down draught chamber kiln has been designed and commissioned in the Institute. The loading volume of the kiln is 2.0 m3. The design criteria considered the reduction of thermal mass, heat loss and incorporation of a recuperation system to achieve higher fuel efficiency. The kiln is automatically operated by a microprocessor based programmable temperature controller and a PID pressure controller. The kiln is running successfully with almost 46% fuel savings with respect to conventional kilns.
