Josh Brooks, editor of Packaging News suggest that recent results from a number of companies in various parts of the packaging supply chain, not least RPC Group, DS Smith, Nampack, API Group & Domino, show that things are back on the up in those areas of packaging that suffered in the recession. Several companies are talking about acquisitions, & no doubt there's plenty of M&A to come in the months ahead. Even more encouraging is that a number of overseas firms are pushing the button on investment in UK packaging. CanPack has committed to a second can-making line at its Scunthorpe facility & Weidenhammer is going a head with its new facility in Bradford, which it hopes to be up & running in 2011. Several indicators suggest that the economy is slowly recovering.
