Magnesia-chrome refractory bricks during operation produce toxic chromates which are environmentally hazardous. New waste restrictions have prompted the search for a corrosion-resistant subsitute. By adding zircon, Didier-Werke has come up with a secondary magnesium silicate containing magnesia brick that resists attack from silica and sulphurous oxides.
