Chinese Coated Glass Markets

This article examines the Chinese coated glass market sector. The Chinese industry currently has around 190 production lines, 158 of these lines entirely or mostly of Chinese technology. The fast development of the float glass industry has encouraged the glass processing business to grow rapidly as a newly risen industry. By 2008, the number of glass processing companies amounted to 4000, headed by Shanghai Yaohua Pilkington (SYP); China Southern (CSG); Fuyao and Xinyi being the leading companies. In 2008, the domestic production of various types of coated glass reached 80M/sq2. The annual production of tempered glass was 180M/sq2, the production of laminated glass over 40M/sq2, and production of qualified insulating glass around 150M/sq2.
