Characterization Of Planar Optical Waveguides By Copper Ion Exchange In Glass

Optical waveguides have been obtained by copper films diffusion on soda-lime glass substrate. The optical and structural properties of the waveguides have been determined by the prism-coupling technique and scanning electron microscopy. This paper explains the gradient index of optical waveguides as a function of the composition of the waveguide.
