Hot bottle handling is an important factor in glass container production. A perfectly formed container can be damaged and quality and efficiency compromised if it is handled incorrectly or comes into contact with unsuitable materials in the hot end. One of the critical handling points in the production process is lehr loading. Over the past decade, higher machine speeds, thinner walled containers and wider Lehrs have compounded this potential problem area. This article explains how the Cerberite Division of the Carbone Lorraine Group has developed a stacker bar system that, based on over 25 years service to the glass industry, deals with the many requirements associated with Lehr loading and gives an overview of the different types of Stacker Bar arrangements available.
