Burner Development Revolutionises Oxy-Fuel Firing

The first generation Cleanfire burner was developed to exploit inherent advantages in oxy-fuel combustion and to overcome deficiencies in existing systems. According the the authors, Cleanfire burners revolutionised oxy-fuel technology with a design that eliminated water cooling, required no maintenance, produced a radiant, lower momentum flame and had the potential to keep NOx emissions within compliance requirements. Air Prodcts & Chemicals Inc has recently commissioned a second generation burner, the Cleanfire HR (High Radiation) burner, which was designed to maximise heat transfer and further optimise flame shape to improve furnace melting efficiency.
