Boc Scientist Presents Paper On Cgmtm Melting Technology

Industrial gas giant BOC's advanced melting technology, CGMTM, is the topic of a presentation during the Seventh International Seminar on Mathematical Modeling/Advanced Numerical Methods in Furnace Design & Operation on 19-20 May/05, Czech Republic. A paper presented by Andrew Richardson, Ph.D. BOC PGS technology manager, discusses the CGM technology's improvements over conventional oxy-fuel boosting that have been confirmed in computer simulation testing. In the paper, Richardson compares the results of the base air-fuel case against cases for conventional oxy-fuel boosting & CGM oxy-fuel boosting. He discusses how third-party tester Glass Service used computational fluid dynamics to develop & validate a combustion model & then study CGM process performance in a range of glass furnaces. CGM technology is being used in about 30 various glass furnaces worldwide.
