Basic Concepts Of Glass Furnace Design

Although the "basics" of furnace design are well known, individual companies, from experience, have their own additional knowhow that influences their design philosophy. In this paper the author deals with the basic design process of a fossil fuel-fired furnace of the end-fired type, its use fbeing for the production of container glass. However, the basics are applicable to a wide range of furnace types.
