Atmospheric Corrosion Of A New, Fast Glass Powder Sensor

The assessment of environmental conditions is necessary to prevent damage on art objects. One possibility would be to detect single parameters such as humidity or a certain pollutant. However, these measurements do not give information ont he actual impact of the environment on materials. As an alternative sensitive glasses can be exposed, which react faster than art objects and may thus act as an early warning system for corrosive effects. By evaluating the changes observed on the sensor glass, conclusions about the environmental conditions can be drawn.
