All-Silica Fibres For Ultraviolet Transmission

All-silica fibres are prepared by MCVD and rod-in-tube processes. This paper presents the results of transmission properties and the surface damage threshold of several all silica fibres at the XeCl wavelength (308nm). Transmission loss and the fracture limits of these fibres due to bending are measured.
