After Afta - Trade Offs For Glass Packaging

The initial pain of ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) is now over in the markets of glass containers in the glass manufacturing member countries of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). However, increasing production costs following higher cost inputs (including labour and gas) is now under constant adjustment by the ASEAN countries where the container glass sector continues to expand. This article takes a look at how the lowering of ASEAN's intra-regional trade barriers has yet to make a substantial impact on the container glass sector.
