[Aerosols] Filling Figures Flourish

In this article the author takes a look at the aerosol market in Europe. As a packaging format, aerosols are of course, not new. Yet the sector's resilience, and constant innovation, demonstrates the growing popularity of aerosols. The latest filling figures collected by BAMA show 5% growth in 2012. Overall, the figures were up from 1,394M/units in 2011 to 1,464.7M/units in 2012 following a strong 9% rise the previous year. Britain is one of the largest fillers of aerosols in Europe and, with Germany, fills over half of all the aerosols sold in this continent, which total more than five billion. In the latest filling figures report, personal care products dominate UK production. They account for just over 70% of the fillings, with the biggest segment being deodorants, body sprays, and antiperspirants, representing 50% of all fillings and 70% of the whole sector. In the personal products category, perfumes and colognes showed high growth of 73.7%, up from 10 to 17.4M/units. BAMA believes that the rise in both categories is partly due to the development of overseas export markets.
